The Trial Protocol Tool

is a free software tool called the Trial Protocol Tool, which supports the production of a high quality research protocol

the Trial Protocol Tool, which supports the production of a high quality research protocol. It provides a checklist of issues that should be considered when writing a protocol, examples of how these issues have been addressed by other researchers, a library of full protocols and teaching materials. It also provides access to related websites and is available in English and Spanish. We have used the tool as the core of several training workshops in southern Africa and the feedback we received was very positive. I thought that members of the evidence-based-health discussion list might find the Trial Protocol Tool useful. The tool can be downloaded from http://www.practihc.org/toolindex.htm or http://homepage.mac.com/streweek/Trial_Protocol_Tool/FileSharing31.html. Feedback on the tool would also be very welcome. Finally, a paper on the tool was recently published in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology (J Clinical Epidemiology 2006; 59: 1127-1133).
